The human brain is very receptive to learning in the preschool years. Learning needs to be reinforced and used repeatedly. To make learning long term and effective, we provide children with opportunities to practice and master new skills.
At Gyan Jyoti Public School we have been inspired by earlier theorists and current brain science and have a curriculum that accommodates all individual learners, providing them opportunities to optimize their inherent potential. We work together to make learning experiences inside and outside the classroom effective, meaningful and joyful. The care and experiences provided to young children during early years influence their:• View of the outside world • The way they relate to others • Their ability to succeed as learners.
At Gyan Jyoti Public School we provide child initiated play. The curriculum is based on active and experiential learning. An optimum teacher-student ratio ensures effective implementation of this activity-based curriculum.
The Pre-Primary comprises Nursery and Preparatory classes through a two integrated programme commencing at the age of 3. These are the years when the child makes the transition from home to school, and the pre-primary curriculum is designed to be senstive to children from very different homes who must now learn to adapt to the presence of large number of other children and do things according to a common rhythm. The programme recognizes that young children develop skills at their own pace.
As they grow older, children learn to find out things, instead of being read to they now read for themselves and have class libraries from which they can pock up books to take home. Their general knowledge comes from reading about children from other lands and cultures, and about their parents and their pets. They learn that numbers are related to quantities and these quantities are a hidden part of everything they see around them.
